Recently, the Digital Public Library of America opened its online doors to the public with a website featuring artifacts and resources from collections across the nation. Although still in beta-testing, the collection already features a hefty amount of audio recordings, texts, images and video sources that would be great for any classroom.

Artifacts can be organized and searched by name, date, and location so that scholars, researchers, and educators can quickly and easily find the resources they need. One of my favorite features of the website, however, are the sturdy search filters like the timeline and map of resources, which make finding the right artifact fun and visually appealing!

Look for even more artifacts and resources as the site is updated and curated, and utilize these primary source documents as a way to engage students with historical artifacts.

Happy researching, y’all!
